I'm just a quakenet and bouncer user since 2004 and still enjoy it. I believe in a anonymity through internet and free services. That's the main reason why i provide free bouncer accounts for regular quakenet network users who can't or simple don't want to pay for it. The servers are used for other things, such as teamspeak, eggdrop etc.
